Topic: All this backstabbing of sellers is driving away new goldbay patrons

Certain members seem to hang here in the forums and publicly bitch about other gold bay members who post gold for sale. This is not healthy for the growth of Gold Bay. In fact, it is driving new members away. IF you have an issue with a seller, there is a way to contact them PRIVATELY and address your concerns. Using public forums as a bitch board about other members simply demeans you and insures that no one will ever want to deal with you.

You should consult your doctor about the possability that you are bipolar/Schitzophrenic and perhaps go on a regiment of anti psychotic medications for your issues. Might I suggest that you start out with either Thorazine or Haldol/perhaps a cocktail of both...and a drool cup. Either way, you shouldnt drink and type.

Ya, so whats your point?? And if someone whats to try and scam someone here, we'll be there to jump all over them annnd if someone is trying to sell a piece for an unrealistic price, we'll be there to tell them the truth. I guess the truth really does hurt.

I am so glad you are a buddy of trace, great, glad for ya.

BUT IF YOU OR ANYONE WHATS TO LIST THEIR GOLD AT DOUBLE THE PRICE OF SPOT I will help remind the new buyers what spot is, so that the uniformed are not overpaying for their gold. The one thing great about this site is their are NO EBAY type sellers here. If you would like to pay double spot for your gold, be my guest. And if someone does not want MY advise then they don't have to read the post. Now being a Vet I would think you would know, just a little (I don't expect much from a jar head) but just a little about freedom of speech or did you miss out on that part of school??
Oh you might what to go back to school and take some english lessons. Just to get you started, you start a sentence with a capital and if you ask a question, you would use a question mark. Now what was that about IQ's again??

This applies to both TRACE and 4UGOLDNUGGETS When The two of You showed up on this site I sent Both of You Question about items You had listed I never received an answer from either of You.I read Your description and the price of different items both of You had up for auction, sale,whatever with(IMO Ridiculous HIGH PRICES )and I know  Mr. HUSK91  not  too say with are the best of friends but we have been on this site for 5 or 6 years or more and
we will continue to alert the public about anyone trying to rip them off.And speaking of STUPID Did you enjoy that GRAIN of Gold You bought for $5 then paid $5 to get it to You.I hang around because I sold a bunch of Gold a couple weeks ago and have bought more.WHY ARE YA'LL STILL HERE?

You know what guys this WAS a great site to buy and sell gold on but there are several problems that have cropped up over the last few years. I will cover them one by one but before I do I want to warn you guys I am going to be very straight forward because quite frankly I am so tired of the bitching and moaning on this site that I have not sold on here for dang near a year. That is significant because before Dave started changing the site I was second only to him in volume of gold sales. Now here are the problems with this site one by one ( I hope that maybe if someone is brutally honest here something will be done but I have reason to doubt that)

1) Lack of traffic (Dave this one is for you to handle)

2) Would you want to buy gold at a site full of complaints about the sellers, we are grown men and are able to do the math. If you are to lazy to do your own research then you deserve to overpay, if someone is unscrupulous enough to way overprice. Husk and Bert although you guys have been here longer than me at this point I think it is fair to also call me a veteran of Goldbay as well. What you guys are trying to do is honorable but the name slinging, insults and overall boorish behavior is not becoming of anyone and only drives people away. This is directed mostly at Trace and Husk. Husk me and you have butted heads before but recently I offered you an olive branch of peace and I do not want to upset you you know your stuff and you should warn people but once and discreetly not a five alarm bell it detracts from the site and harms all sellers by making this place look like a dangerous place to buy nuggets. If two people decide to sling mud at one another then they both look dirty. I learned that one the hard way with you and refuse to participate in that type of action any longer. As far as the constant references to Bad Ebay sellers quite frankly that is a pile of bull, I have sold on ebay as a power seller for years I have a 99.6% rating with thousands of transactions done. For the most part most Ebay sellers are fair and quite frankly if you look at it in proportion to numbers of listings the percentage of overpriced listings on this site are greater save for daves listings and a couple of others.

3) Dave I am sorry but for the longest time you have been an absentee host, you used to take part every day now it is difficult to get a email returned. I am glad your side gold business is going great for you but you should decide if this site should be kept open and if so hire someone to manage it full time or do it yourself, I really miss the good old days when we were more community minded, lately goldbay has been left to the wolves.

4) Honestly if people cannot get along I hope Dave removes the discussion and comment boards they cause more trouble and harm than they are worth now, at one time they were great but now well read for yourself. Feedback should be enough of a gauge to see if a seller is reputable.

5) This is a site for natural gold purists, only gold and gold related products such as paydirt, nuggets, specimens should be allowed to list on this site. Maybe a section for rare minerals but that is a big maybe.

6) better maintenance of the site, and a help line that offers immediate help. There are so many glitches on the site that someone needs to be available to help new sellers list and sell properly from conception of the advert to feedback! If I was new here and had trouble and had to wait days for a response to a question if on is even received at all, I would move on most likely to ebay which believe it or not now offers phone support for everyone as well as instant online chat. I know Dave does not have eBay's big budget but I seem to remember statements of becoming the largest gold selling site in the net, ebay sells more nuggets in ten minutes than this site does in a week at one time this site offered good support what happened to it?

7) Dave you are by far the most well supplied person with gold and have the best resources but if you want to run a public auction site with peons like me selling it is hard to compete against you if you dominate the listings, You have stated that your private sales far exceed your Goldbay sales why not leave the crumbs for the little guys and maybe contact members/sellers privately and offer to supply them with gold for sale rather than compete with them, you will most likely increase your sales volume, increase the amount of sellers offering their wares and have more time to directly deal with members instead of building listings. the money you make on auction fees would probably better cover your expenses if this site were run with more attention paid to the buyers and sellers.

Ok I am done for the moment and think I covered the major problems I see. I already know someone will say sell on eBay if you don't like it here or something else like that, save your breath because I already am along with starting my own site. I would love to sell on here again and may do so soon, but that will not change the difficulties experienced by new users that I have stated above. Guys I am not trying to make enemies here with this post I respect all of you (even husk lol) and have made several friends on here including Trace, Bert, Dave and others. If you feel the need to berate this post go ahead I will not gratify those type of posts with a response, if you have something constructive to say I will gladly banter about it, and maybe just maybe we will get Dave's attention. And a note to Dave, I know I have been fairly critical of you in this post but I mean it as constructive criticism and only to benefit you and the members, I hope you are not upset at me for this but if you are well what can I do it has been said and I am sorry if that is the case but this forum needs a dose of true reality and honesty, not childish mudslinging, just look at this particular discussion and my points are made. Thanks Bert, you know I would rather sell you guys my gold it is so much easier than selling on Bay because I am not answering endless dumb questions due to the fact most are uneducated in gold nuggets on ebay, here it is buy send feedback thats it, only problem is no volume in sales = no bills paid lol!

Lol I just read all the posts in this forum again (this particular one) And I could not help feeling like i was back in my grade 9 or 10 classroom listening to the guys banter and argue lol! seriously read it without taking offense to it and you will feel the same. Grow-Up guys! Let's make goldbay a respectable place again or failing that I hope Dave shuts it down.

I have read it and I laughed ,sounded  like two Babbie's crying and they both needed a diaper change,and then i just thru a little fuel on the fire.I sold plenty gold a couple weeks ago and got a good price for it.If you can't sell here there is a reason ,we have smart buyers for the most part but some people need help and sometimes you make a mistake and it can cost you dearly so I'm still going to side with Husk91 on exposing predators/Fakes/Rip off sellers.

Oh Bert absolutely I agree with you guys let me clarify. Scammers Fakes and misleading adverts (IE sellers who sell in grains and use the abbreviation gn without explaining in the advert how much a grain actually is. It is a legitimate weight uses to weigh gold especially in the case of very small nuggets. The problem is the ones who only use gn and hope someone will confuse it for grams.) Now as far as the guys asking for a high start price to begin with well that is the beauty of a free market system, maybe to the seller that is what any particular thing is worth to him and he or she is not willing to part with it for any less. On the flip side is it not a buyers responsibility to use due diligence and shop the market around a bit and learn the going rate for the object of their desire then make an educated choice based on that simple principle? Should I feel bad if a buyer does not take the time to read the full advertisement or do the math. To husk a smaller gold nugget is worth somewhere around spot price he has made that clear to everyone. But what if you are from somewhere where gold does not occur anywhere near you and no one in your area that you know of has seen a gold nugget? wouldn't it be worth more to you than just a investment, take the gold specimen  market for example, people will pay 10-20x spot for exceptional specimens, but it is still gold? what is really the difference. Anyway before I ramble on I just want to say that you and husk are right to do what you do MOST of the time but there have been a few instances where maybe a private email asking the seller to justify their prices to you before going public may have been more prudent. Just for the record I JUST FINISHED WRANGLING A REFUND OFF AN EBAY SELLER (YES SOME ARE FRAUDS BUT NOT ALL!) HE SOLD ME A 4.1 GRAM "PLATINUM" NUGGET CRYSTAL FOR A BIT OVER SPOT, I THOUGHT I GOT A DEAL, WHAT HE SENT WAS A CUBIC HEMATITE SPECIMEN WORTH ABOUT 2 CENTS, HE INSISTED FOR TWO WEEKS IT WAS REAL, EVENTUALLY I WON THE CLAIM PROCESS, ALSO HELPED 5 OTHER PEOPLE WHO GOT SCAMMED GET THEIR MONEY BACK FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 2300 DOLLARS! HE HAS NOT BEEN KICKED OFF BUT HE IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY EBAY AND THE AUTHORITIES (YES I CALLED THE COPS IN HIS TOWN) EBAY ID OF THE CROOK IS MAD*VW SO SEE I ALSO WILL HAMMER A SCAMMER VICIOUSLY WHEN I SEE ONE.

bert it wouldn't be the same without you causing trouble (roflmao) But I am hoping that dave will take the initiative and either turn this site into what it should be or be merciful and end the pain lol! I still think this has the chance to be a great thing but it needs full time attention. Well I have been holed up in my cabin all winter got pretty cold and the snow was deep, but other than that all I can say is it was bleeping boring lol! I now understand what cabin fever was, I thought I was a victim for a while lol! I made a new amber discovery last fall and it is lower down in the valley in a coal seam so the snow has melted there. I am working my amber claim now, but in may my gold creek should be up and running again.

I'll say this again, if you post your gold here at a unreal high price I WILL bring it to everyones attention and if people want to jump down my throat for it, you have that right. But, I have been ripped off on E-bay (twice and I will never buy there again) and I feel I was taken advantage here and got less than what I thought I was getting. If people what to throw mudd at me because of that, it is there right. This is AMERICA and freedom of speech is great and if you attack me I WILL defend myself.
Just look at djb101, to me this guy will never sell gold here because he never list his weight. Most of us know better than to buy without knowing the weight, but a new guy just might not. When this new guy gets this flake of gold he is gonna be mad, mad at who? The seller or you and I because we did not bring it to his attention. I believe we would be at fault, just as much as he would, because we are part of the goldbay family. This isn't a used car dealership where capitalisum rules. If thats the case then let them go to E-bay, that is capitalisum at it's worst.

I am in 100% agreement with Gino  AKA Mineralman. I came to this site to sell gold from Brazil and other places. Just then The site was changed and then changed with way to many glitches that took forever to get any response. I look into Goldbay occasionally but it is only worse now... too bad, it used to be great. I don't even have the site bookmarked anymore

As the newest person in here I must agree the name calling is insane. Trace I understand your point but does swearing and calling people names back really help your cause? Come on guys, lets at least be civil. I appreciate that Husk is willing to point out shady deals; once again it should be constructive and not blasting. Dave if there are problem sellers you need to take care of that. I have yet to buy gold from here so I do not know all the ins-and-outs. As a consumer you should always research what you are buying, if you are ill informed and pay to much that is your own fault; not ours. I have purchased gold from Ebay with no issues, and I hope to purchase or sale gold here. I wish you all the best of luck in your selling and buying. The only way this site will grow is if we help to improve it.

I agree with you 100% and my basic frustration was that I was being led along by a person in this forum who makes very few contributions to the site as a whole. Please note that I no longer engage him in conversation as I realized that by feeding his need for attention, I was making matters worse.

However,

My main point stands. If you have an issue with a seller, then first address it with that person privately. If that doesnt work, then they are free game. Such as Jason Barber, a person I bought a 1990 mint set of US gold coins through Gold Bay. I sent him the money a month ago and have yet to see the coins. I have attempted to contact him many times but he does not respond. His is a case of "Gain their trust by selling a few small pieces and then rip someone off with a big sale"! His only problem being that I am retired from the United States Department of Justice.
