the Holtermann 'Nugget'

This my friend was quoted as the worlds largest nuggut , but they are wrong.For this is a gold specimen (mix of gold and quartz).Found in 1872 ,Hill End , nsw , Australia .As it weighed 630 pounds (285 Kg), most of it was stone.The size was huge 1.5 meters tall( size of a small man).Late on it was melted down to pure gold.

The Welcome Stranger

The Welcome Stranger was known as  Eluvial nugget as it was found at a local reef. This i can say should be the largest nugget ,as it was almost pure gold, with lots of quartz attached.Sad to say this piece was too cut up and melted down . It was discovered by John Deason and Richard Oates at Moliagul, Victoria, Australia on 5 February 1869.Weighting in 3523.5 troy ounces,the trimmed weight was 2520 troy ounces, and net it weighed 2315.5 troy ounces or 72.02 kg.Only 2 kg was lost after smelted, that 70kg(2315.5 troy ounces) of pure gold

The Welcome Nugget

The Welcome Nugget was found in 1858 by night shift worker at Red Hill Mines.20 inches long ,13 inches broad, 8 inches thickand and weighting 2,217 ozs, it took the men  .Again another nugget that was smelted and made into sovereigns

The Hand of Faith

This on was found with a metal detector, near Kingower, Victoria, Australia on 26 September 1980.weighting in as 875 troy ounces(nice find).This piece would had been worth million in those days and now maybe trillion.
