ALIEN-FACED NUGGET! THE LARGEST I HAVE OFFERED THIS YEAR! MAY NOT GET ANY THAT ARE BIGGER!
RARE, RARE, RARE, RARE!
(.930 ounce / 26.3gram / 16.9 pennyweight -dwt)
assayed from 10K up to 18K+
This rare nugget is from a large private (over 40 years) gold collection. a PARTICULARLY DESIRED NUGGET . "ALIEN-HEADED NUGGET W/ SKULL EYES ON REAR) " NAMED AFTER THE SHAPE. MAKES THEM EASY TO IDENTIFY. This particular nugget and the next two that I also have listed was found three years apart on the same mountain range while sieving and metal detecting. I consider them extremely rare for their size and gold clarity. This nugget and the other two were owned by one family and they were carried daily in a leather pouch to prevent someone from stealing them from the family home while they were away tending cows. What little story I could manage to get...but still something about them. This one has an area of strong copper concentration in one spot. Not unusual but distinct. These nuggets are from several sites spanning a lifetime of individual (indigenous and foreign) discoveries AND personal aboriginal risks. Most were found many years before US aggressive cyanide mining began taking place in some of these remote locations in the Peruvian mountainsides. These are the results of thermo and cataclysmic volcanic activity both recent and ancient. Some, no doubt afterwards, and now with increased personal risk. The SEVENTH of twelve nuggets that is currently available for future offers . A fantastic nugget well-suited for a pendant or jewelry design.
Many of the nuggets were discovered near ancient volcanically active areas with very limited access. Purity of content is not guaranteed due to the difficulty of assay. (some contain silver, copper, and other indigenous minerals) . Commonly these nuggets are associated with antimony, silver and other minerals and sometimes in masses of considerable size. One nugget brought 112,000.00 US in 1999. It was from the mountainous regions mostly above 13,000 ft above sea level.
Very striking and beautiful pendants have been made and sell extremely well from these particular type nuggets.
This is by far the best lot of nuggets I have had the blessings to be entrusted with to purchase
